THE STUDIO
What you see are pictures of Edward Martin’s studio some time after his death, just before everything was packed for the move from Saugerties to Woodstock, where his wife, Dr. Alma Jones Norment, relocated.
It is dusty and appears disorganized, just the way it was when he was alive. He spent many happy, peaceful hours here. You can see some of the projects he was still working on as well as some finished pieces. There is nothing so poignant as the picture of his eyeglasses left on the workbench where he last used them or the pair of tasseled shoes that seem to be almost new, discarded in a tool bucket – they were his favorite kind of shoes.
